There's something special about being at the top of a mountain. I feel fresh and unrestricted, there's no pollution or anything above me making me feel trapped. Anddd, add in a nice refreshing beer (and fries, not pictured). The most perfect duo up on Mount Pilatus!
For dinner my friends and I really sought out authentic "Swiss" food. After attempts at translating, I think that the hash brown looking meal is an authentic Swiss dish. It certainly was filling and delicious, especially on an empty stomach. You cannot go to Switzerland without getting some chocolate. I am an avid chocolate lover, so naturally I had to bring some back to Italy! If you don't know of Lindt Chocolate, it is a Chocolatier originating from Switzerland. We didn't go into a factory or original store, but went to an authentic Swiss chocolate store, which had tons of Lindt chocolates. So yummy on our last day!

I'll be honest, I had heard from various people that French food was not the tastiest. That doesn't mean that it isn't good, but I came to France almost expecting the food to be very bland. On Saturday night, February 17, we went to this cafe near the Musee d'Orsay. I was so excited to order authentic French food. We (Ashley, Morgan and I) shared escargot. Ashley had had it before but Morgan and I were slightly nervous. It was not as bad as I thought. The first escargot I ate was good but the next was pretty thick and chewy. I'm glad I tried it and now know what it tastes like! I also ordered French onion soup, something I really like back in the states, so of course I had to try it here in France! This French onion soup is by far the best I have had. It was crunchy at first spoonful and then turned to a nice, warm liquid halfway through. Once my spoon hit the bottom, I got a hint of cream based soup. I was shocked at how one bowl of soup could have such different consistency all while maintaining the same flavor. It was seriously to die for!
On my weekend trip to Venice, Italy I discovered how much I love Bellinis. Before going to Venice I had zero clue that the Bellini originated in Italy, much less Venice! A Bellini is basically Prosecco and peach puree. On Saturday's lunch, the Bellini I had was one of the best. It was pereferly pureed and had an equal amount of Prosecco and peach.
Later that night we went to a bar close to where we stayed and got some drinks. I ordered another Bellini. This one was more liquid-based but still very flavorful. |
