This past weekend, I visited Budapest, Hungary. To be honest, I did not know a thing about Hungarian food, I just figured it would be a lot of food I was not used to. I think I am a changed person; the food in Budapest was so light, yet filling and delicious all at the same time. When we arrived, Friday morning, I immediately spotted this bagel shop right underneath where we were staying. I knew I had to try it! The workers were very friendly and spoke a little bit of English. Think of the best bagel you've had. Before Bagel Iñez Shop, my answer would have been from Einstein's or Old School Bagel in Norman. This bagel, the Manhattan style, satisfied my hunger but tasted flavorful and fresh. It was also pretty cheap. Friday night's dinner was amazing. After a change of plans, we literally stumbled upon Budapest Bisztró. Most of us had wanted to try authentic "Hungarian" food and had zero clue how nice this restaurant was. Our waiter was very kind and attentive; and the overall atmosphere was very relaxing. I'm starting to think Europeans really do not eat until about 8 pm every night, it was so quiet when we went inside. I asked our waiter what he recommended. He gave us a few options so I chose: Paprikash farm chicken with egg noodles and marinated cucumber. This was an interesting selection of foods all on one plate. It was very tasty and left me feeling full and happy. On Sunday, January 28, we ate in the area that the famous Budapest baths are located. I chose a light sandwich, and was surprised that there was no top bread. The salmon was a "spread" with three lemons on top. It was definitely interesting, with a strong flavor.
